Ainciart Bergara MAKHILA OF HONOUR IN NICKEL SILVER, WITH BRAID IN LEATHER Makhila made to measure for its future owner, it will also bear name of the recipient, as well as a short phrase translated into Basque. The makhila will be delivered by Christmas 2026 (current order deadline for November 2027). L'Atelier For over 7 generations, the Ainciart Bergara workshop has been making makhilas, traditional Basque walking sticks, in the village of Larressore. The story began in the 1780s with the Ainciart family. In 1926, Marie-Jeanne Ainciart, who had taken over the family business, married Jean Bergara. The latter made his mark on the family history by being crowned Meilleur Ouvrier de France in 1936. Subsequent generations continued the legacy of the Ainciart heritage and excellence, retaining both names in the signature of each makhila. The workshop has held the "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" (Living Heritage Company) label since 2012. listed in the UNESCO inventory of rare crafts.
