Byzantine Empire - Focas (602-610) A curious "faulty" solidus. The strike was badly taken up and the initial blank was turned upside down! This results in some aberrant legends. On obverse: "DN FOCAS" is replaced by "AVEYE" on reverse, OB can be seen, end of CONOB. On the reverse, the left-hand side reads "PERPAVI" instead of "VICTORIA".
